KNOW NOISE music newsletter
Can bittersweet really feel this good?
1
I’m hoping KNOW NOISE gives you at least one new song each week that you can add to your playlists. Should that happen, I’d be very happy. You know it’s funny, when I first listen to a song, if I concentrate on hearing every single word being sung, I end up not really hearing the song. I have to first “feel” a song, then I’ll go back for the lyrics if I like the vibe of the song.
We have a lot of songs that feel really good this week,
even when the lyrics are bittersweet…
Sydney Mack grew up in a town outside of Pittsburgh, PA. I found her during a live Tik Tok release party last week. She reminds me of a combination of Shania Twain & Carrie Underwood. Her song “Don’t Call” echoes Rihanna’s “Love on the Brain”.
(do You hear it?)
One of Sydney’s fave quotes: “When you get to the end of your rope… tie a knot and hang on” - Franklin D. Roosevelt.
Next up is a band from Atlanta, Georgia - Blackberry Smoke. They capture the spirit of a band you never hear about any more - Little Feat. With a funky Cajun groove going & a tickling piano low in the mix as the back up harmonies make it sound
a bit like church. Check out “Hey Delilah”
Britain’s long time New Music Express call themselves “The world's defining voice in music and pop culture since 1952”. This is where I found British singer-songwriter Griff who also produces most of her work. She doesn’t appear to be your typical pop star and exudes a real maturity though she’s only 20. She mixes a breathy quality with full-out singing here on “Black Hole”, from her release “One Foot in Front of the Other”
Cool Fact - Griff says she learned to produce music on her brother's laptop using tutorials from YouTube.
Enough of the bittersweet…
Here’s a young Eric Clapton. Not from Eric’s Cream days or his blues passion, but more from EC’s Americana/Pop side. Guitarist singer/songwriter Quinn Sullivan has already played alongside Buddy Guy, but he’s got his own sound for sure.
Here’s "All Around The World".
Quinn is playing blues festivals in Lancaster, PA, Telluride, CO and Plymouth, MA this fall.

This week In Case You Missed It…
What you all have been yearning for - Some medieval folk rock – by a German band of course. Please - Just for fun - Give this a chance!
Feuerschwanz – I think it means “red tailed shark(?). Anyway, they don’t take themselves too serious, and neither should you. Their song “Die Hörner Hoch” (translation: the horns high) makes for a great sing-along while you’re dancing. Apparently they prefer to drink their beer from horns.
>>Here’s just a Heads Up about a Beatles documentary<<
The Beatles: Get Back— Drawn from nearly 60 hours of film showing the band jamming, writing, arranging, clowning, struggling, and finally recording Let It Be.
The article from Vanity Fair in the link above is excellent. The six-hour documentary will run on Disney+ over three nights on November 25, 26, and 27.
